Turning Miles into Meaning and Running with Purpose at the Chicago Marathon

OCTOBER 12, 2025, Stephanie is taking on the Chicago Marathon to turn every mile into a step toward meaningful change. Living with multiple autoimmune illnesses and a rare neurological condition, Stephanie's learned to treat every step as a gift. Running isn’t just a challenge—it’s a celebration of resilience and an opportunity to make a difference.

Through her 26.2 miles in Chicago, Stephanie is raising awareness, funds, and hope with the PDK Foundation. and polycystic kidney disease (PKD) research. Curious about my mission and why she run? Click below to learn more and join her in making every mile count!

The Heart of This Mission

Meet Christina McElwee
This journey is deeply personal. Stephanie's running the Chicago Marathon not just for myself but for Christina McElwee, my lifelong friend who inspires me every day. Christina battles polycystic kidney disease (PKD)—a genetic condition that affects her kidneys and limits her ability to live as actively as she’d like.

While she may not be able to run alongside me, her strength, courage, and resilience fuel every mile I take. Together, we’re raising awareness and funds to support PKD research, with the hope of improving lives and finding a cure.

Listen in her own words below as she shares her story and journey as a PKD Warrior.
